Naturally, there are many thousands of team line-ups just of Midlands teams in the Victorian era, but for those of you out there who have 'a speciality' interest, I will publish a few team line-ups from the year 1880 of what I call the 2nd tier clubs, who are not in the Lost Teams book. Nonetheless, all these teams were good enough to get a report in the Midland Athlete newspaper, which was my main source.
Contact me if you are looking for 2nd tier team line-ups, if you want to know if your great grandad played for the Tipton FC, for example.
The expert eye will spot some well-known names lurking in the team sheets of these smaller teams, such as Villa's Olly Whately playing for Florence with his two brothers, Albion's Jem Bayliss at Tipton Providence, Walsall Swifts' Dyoss brothers,, Bushton,Tait and Dutton playing for Florence and Excelsior; Small Heath founders Gessey,Cooke and Hughes in the St.Lukes team, and Tipton's Jim Doughty also played for Great Bridge Unity, etc etc.
